User Guide

How to use this tool

The Add Watermark tool overlays customizable text watermarks onto any image so you can claim authorship, communicate copyright, or brand images before publishing them. Adjustable position, size, angle, opacity and color let you match any visual style.

How to use it

Drop an image onto the upload zone and type your watermark text. Choose a position from the presets (four corners, center, or tiled) and adjust the font size, opacity and rotation angle to taste. The preview updates instantly.

Use the color picker to pick a watermark color that reads clearly on your image. Once satisfied, download the watermarked PNG. All processing is local so unreleased assets stay confidential.

  • Text watermarks with adjustable font size and color
  • Six placement presets including tiled pattern
  • Opacity slider from 10% to 100%
  • -45° to +45° rotation angle for classic diagonal marks

Watermark best practices

For subtle branding, use 25–0% opacity in the bottom-right corner. For strong deterrent against unauthorized use, use 50–0% opacity in the tiled configuration — a tiled watermark is very difficult to remove without visible damage to the underlying image.

Match watermark color to the least-attention-drawing area of the image. Pure white or pure black can look harsh; a slightly desaturated version of a dominant image color usually looks more elegant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I preview position in real time?

Drag the watermark or use snap presets (top-left, center, bottom-right, etc.).

Is it reversible?

No — always keep an unwatermarked original. We never overwrite your source.

Can I use an image logo as a watermark?

Yes. Upload a transparent PNG logo and adjust its size, opacity, position, and tiling. You can also add text watermarks alongside the logo.

Does watermarking reduce image quality?

The watermark is composited directly on the canvas and the result is re-encoded. At 90%+ quality, the visual difference is negligible for most uses.

Can I tile the watermark across the whole image?

Yes. Enable the tile/grid option to repeat the watermark diagonally across the entire image, which provides stronger protection against unauthorized use.

Is this tool free to use?

Yes. This tool is completely free with no sign-up, no watermarks, and no daily limits. All processing runs locally in your browser.

Can I use an image or logo as a watermark?

This tool supports text watermarks only. For image watermarks, use the Image Collage tool.

Are watermarks reversible?

No. Once baked into the pixels the watermark cannot be perfectly removed. Keep an unmarked original.
